Finding The Right Balance Between Class, Location and Cost with Hotels in North London

by Dexter Osbourne

London is one of the world's most popular cities for tourists and North London in particular manages to balance the glamour of capital city living with the charm of the 'real' England. As well as containing an almost limitless amount of activities itself (world class nightlife, famous restaurants, bars and clubs as well as attractions such as the Madame Tussauds, Wembley Stadium and London Zoo) the north of the capital also borders a range of more rustic regions such as Sussex, Kent, Surrey and Hampshire that will give visitors a sense of the 'real' England. Hotels in North London can be expensive but below are 2 examples that manage to balance budget with luxury and location.

Situated in the gently suburban region of Finchley, the 'Comfort', marks a fantastic base for exploring all that London has to offer. The cities main attractions are little more than half an hour away and within walking distance of the hotel you'll find countless bars and restaurants as well as globally recognised tourist destinations such as Hampstead Heath and the Alexandra Palace. The hotel itself is modern and sleek, but that statement belies its homely comfort. Hotels in north London are notoriously expensive, but the comfort manages to be both cost effective and luxurious.

The Comfort Finchley is situated rather conveniently on a state of the art leisure complex which includes a bowling alley, a gym and 2 swimming pools and in within walking distance of the Brent Cross Shopping Centre and the Phoenix Cinema, one of the oldest cinemas in the UK. Hotels in north London are known for being overpriced and under-furnished and with poor links to the rest of the capital but the comfort enjoys close links to the north circular road and is only a half hour tube ride away from the cities centre. The rooms are sparse and clean, but elegant and equipped with all manner of necessary mod cons.

The Raglan is a far more luxurious alternative when it comes to hotels in north London. Bedrooms are fully equipped with deluxe beds, top-of-the-range TV's and decadent en-suite bathrooms and the hotels location (the trendy area of Muswell Hill) means that it's perfectly located for both foreign visitors and UK vacationers looking for a bit of glamour. The main feature of the hotel is it's gorgeous Japanese garden, which can be used for everything from evening drinks to corporate functions and even weddings.

Muswell Hill is a quiet area that is popular with the cities higher classes and is a stones-throw from world famous landmarks such as Hampstead Heath and Wembley Stadium whilst remaining far enough out to maintain it's subtle dignity. Of course just a short tube ride away is the centre of London, one of the liveliest and most entertaining cities in the world so really, the Raglan represents the perfect choice for any potential traveller looking for perfect hotels in north London.
