In Weighing Sydney Accommodation Near Airport

by Howard Rudd

The main attraction of Sydney accommodation near airport is convenience, for keeping the trip from baggage claim to unpacking those bags as short as possible. There are lots of choices right next to the airport, so no one faced with an overnight stay needs to complicate things. Of course, keep in mind that the center of Sydney is not all that far, either.

Among the hotels deemed 'at the airport', the Stamford Plaza Hotel is the most luxurious, with a five star rating. This high rise has all the usual luxuries, like a pool, a full-service spa, a gym, a sauna, and a hot tub. It also offers full business service for conferences, shuttle pick up, baby sitting and child services, and has banquet facilities. The free breakfast included with the room gets an excellent rating.

With very satisfactory reviews, the Holiday Inn is another airport hotel, with a four star rating. Guests of the hotel have a choice of two restaurants, a coffee shop, and a bar, and can relax in the pool, or get going in the fitness room or on the hotel's golf course. Babysitting is provided if needed, as well as secretarial service.

The brand new Quest Mascot Serviced Apartments offer overnight accommodations in the small or large suites, as convenient as a hotel room but more like a home away from home. The facility has a four and a half star rating for excellent staff and luxurious amenities, and all the fine restaurants and clubs of the city are just outside. There are meeting rooms and secretarial service to accommodate those on business.

Four stars have been awarded to the Mecure Sydney Airport, although the validity of this rating is questioned by some former guests. The rooms are generally praised as comfortable and spacious, but the attentiveness of the staff and the quality and value of the food fall short. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant, and charges a small fee for their shuttle service.

The Hotel Formule gets a better review for the quality of the service, and also has been awarded four stars. There is a charge for wireless connection and for parking. There is no charge for babies under two years of age, unless a cot is needed. All reservations are prepaid and nonrefundable.

Three stars only for the 116 room Airport Sydney International Inn Hotel, but the pictures look great. This hotel has grades of rooms, from standard to the interesting spa suites. Family suites are also available. The Inn is equipped for business groups as well as for those who are simply traveling, and has an on site bar and restaurant.

Rates are detailed when reservations are made. It does not seem to be any more expensive to stay near the airport than in town. All of these hotels are non-smoking, air-conditioned, and connected to the web. Advance bookings may get discounted pricing. Some hotels charge for services that others may provide for free, so check out this aspect as well when making a reservation.

Sydney accommodation near the airport is 'no sweat', as the folks down under say.
