Make Traveling Easier With These Simple Steps

When traveling by air, always plan to arrive at the airport at least one hour before your flights (two for international flights). Parking, checking in and getting through security, can take time. Busy lines can make the wait longer and arriving late might mean that you will miss your flight.

Avoid eating any foods that haven't been cooked while you're traveling in a foreign country. This means avoiding salads and raw vegetables, as well as any fruits with thin skins like apples, plums, or pears. If you want to have a fruit, stick with something with thick skin like a banana, orange, or coconut.

Check over your homeowner's insurance policy and your credit card insurance policy to see if your baggage is covered during travel. If it is covered under either of these policies you can exclude it from your travel insurance policy to save a bit of money and may make the claim process easier.

Research the type of travel insurance you are considering before making the investment. Make sure that it covers things like, baggage loss or delay and emergency medical expenses, so you can recover some of the cost of your trip if your vacation plans are cut short or cancelled due to these things happening.

If you have diabetes and are traveling, plan ahead. Get a doctor's note explaining that you have diabetes or wear a medical alert bracelet. Take enough insulin with you and even some extra, if possible. Pack snacks, such as juices, peanut butter and sugar cubes or packets, for emergencies. Dress in comfortable and loose clothing and shoes.

Something you should never do is place an important document in the pocket of the seat in front of you. Most likely, it will slide down to where you will not be able to view it anymore and you will forget all about it. Then you will get off the plane and realize too late that you don't have it.
